From 15 April 2007 to 15 May 2007: there are two major events

Than till the end of May there is nothing with the exception of the

For a 3 million tourists by the year of 2015, a strategy that was put by the Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority, I believe the number of events will increase rapidly... since the goverment is pushing to get more of the business travellers as well..
ADNEC is the main key word in making this increasment...
Ask me why?
A new policy was placed eariler this year which puts ADNEC in power to license any new events that comes to Abu Dhabi.
Its a way of keeping a healthy track system on every single events that takes place here in AD.
The advantages and disadvantages of this process is that, the communication between both various entities such as the abu dhabi tourism authority or hotels or other exhibition organizers will always face a challenege in getting a quick and prompt answer. . and that's because ADNEC is still growing and the load of exhibition and events applications as you said will increase...
So I do believe that we will hear or read a new policies of what are the events that wil be turned down at ADNEC.. or maybe we won't hear anything because they might start moving to Qatar, Omar or even soon to Bahrain,, not to forget our sister city, Dubai!
MICE is a small world and things duplicate most of the time but under a different titles....
Thank you Mr. MICE Fan,,, keep thr blogs runing...

Mr. Ali
Thanks again for your comments.
By saying that Adnec will have the power to license any new events that comes to Abu Dhabi , are you talking about Exhibitions and events that will take place at the new Adnec a state of-the art venue. Or you are talking all Events in Abu Dhabi even conferences in hotels and the other small different kind of events in other venues?
I noticed form a press release to Adnec they will have about 50 Exhibitions in their new built venue in 2008 which it is a big number if we take in consideration that the Venue opened only just in February 2007.
Good evening,
Its pleasure to be here from time to time..
Its hard to keep up since work never ends but I do enjoy reviewing the market opinion about what's going on in our business touruism market...
In regards to your question, Idealy their role is to monitor every single conference, event, exhibtion, anything that has to do with "events" in general.
I believe its has to do with licensing these events to keep a record and easy way of tracking all of the events that takes place in Abu dhabi.
So each hotel is responsible to update ADNEC about whats new and what is the capacity of the events that is going to take place in their venues and so on...
I can tell you there is a huge lack in the market about this law and not too many people are aware of it nor believe that it could happen, because you can't really keep a record since you can easily through an exhibition in Emirates Palace or Beach Rotana Hotel, they have a reasonable space for a small an mid-average size events so in this case, should ADNEC be involved in approving or not approving the event, thats where I believe, we have to wait and hear from the hotels and other exhibition creators and organizers about what they think about this new law...
Thank you my friend,
Only time can tell...
God bless..

Good morning Ali,
Always nice to hear from you
Regarding ADNEC isn’t it a little bit strange that ADNEC is in charge of licensing all kind of Abu Dhabi events, as I understand they are the National Exhibition premises Owner, don’t you think there might be a conflict of interest here I mean between ADNEC venue and others venues.
As far as I know this role in other countries is played by non-profit government body his main job is to take care of all what related to events and to promote the country /city as meetings destination and to attract national and international events planner and organizers to use their country/City different venues and meetings facilities they usually called it convention Bureau or Convention and Visitor bureau (CVB)
I am sure Abu Dhabi convention Bureau is in it is way and will establish soon
Mr. MICE Fan
Its pleasure to stay in touch,
Your previous post is 100% and I got no comments …
This new law will definitely face some issues from others and soon enough everything will change,
Just like any other law in our beloved city, we always come with one law and try it for a while, if it works then we don’t touch it but if it raises issues then we just “booom” change it again, and so on..
So lets see how things go with this new law,
I believe the main and clear purpose from it is to assure the quality of the exhibitions and events in general quality that wants to take place in Abu Dhabi.
Our higher management believes in certain entities and one of them is ADNEC, therefore they’ve chose ADNEC to be the main entity that qualify and evaluate every event that will take place in AD and then license it.
To be quite honest this is a
Pretty “uncomfortable” process…
Final comments,
We are in a storming stage at this moment and the development process of everything is just going to make us learn everyday something new ,,,,
So its totally fine to do mistakes in the beginning but i hope we can learn from other success and reduce the amount of “trying” things and just start implementing what is really RIGHT and is BEST practice…
Cheers,
Enjoy your weekend,

Back to add one point,
you are right,
Abu Dhabi Convention Buearu is not far from become a true entity here in Abu Dhabi..
and ADNEC is no longer a place that is focused on exhibition only, they will also have a huge conferece hall a long with meeting rooms that can serve all of the MICE purposes,, but of course their baby is going to be always "Exhibitions".....
So in another words,
it will be really interesting to see the new Buearu and ADNEC work together at some stage in the coming years....
Abu Dhabi is growing and so do business,,,
